baratunde.com: My CNN appearance and post-show analysis (videos included)

Congratulations on your appearance, and thanks for posting the video, as I missed it live on TV. I missed most of the Iowa caucus happenings because of work commitments, but I was so very proud, happy and excited when I found out he won.

    Wow. Nice work.

Amazing to see the contrast between Rev. Jackson & Obama -- Old School vs. New School. Lot's of respect for Rev. Jackson, but he's just as much a part of the old world order as Hillary and all the folks standing behind her in Des Moines on Thursday night.

Congrats, man! A couple more CNN appearances, and you're going to have to drop your "vigilante" tag.

Great job! I appreciated the "compare and contrast." For the life of me, I couldn't remember where I knew your name from. Then, this morning my "black-ivy" light came on! I only wish the segment would have been longer.

That was a great comment at the end. Really changed the tone on the way out, and you did it with a smile on your face.

I hear Rev. Jackson as well, particularly his breakdown of the specific gaps that need to be addressed. However, I'm not really sure why he's hitting on the "substance" meme (and its veiled sister, "experience"). Especially when you consider that no candidate has satisfactorily addressed these areas with any significant detail, from where I sit (except for maybe Kucinich partially, but...we'll see how far that goes).

    Anyway, great job.

Oh, and congrats on getting on CNN in the first place! That's awesome.

Congratz on making it onto CNN. Kind of difficult to get a word in with the Rev Jackson on the show but I guess it's worth the thrill of being in the same frame as such a bigger than life personality. While Obama is a little bit conservative for my tastes now that I've listened to him I do agree that I much prefer him over Hilary and VERY MUCH prefer him over any of the republicans. Also as a Bostonian we will miss your Dig Column. Oh well, onward and upward!

Man, Baratunde. Your continued success in the new media world is an inspiration to me.

    It's dorky, but it's true....

Hey - Good work on CNN. I'm glad you got that comment in at the end giving Obama his props after Jesse tried to punk him. His son is my absentee Congressman and his daughter-in-law is my puppet alder(wo)man (city council(wo)man). Sr. is an opportunist who I've seen at the gym looking at females' behinds. I can honestly say that the Jacksons get on my last nerves and we need people like you who are not afraid to contradict them. I mean how can he say there is more to getting things done than "hope" when he single-handedly popularized the phrase "Keep Hope Alive." Hater.

Your piece, as well as a New York Times piece on Huckabee (among others), got me thinking - are we way off on focusing on the candidates' views on Iraq and the like, when people are really concerned about their relatives in prison, or the possibility that a divorce will reduce their income?

Congrats on your continuing sucess, great comments. Glad to see you speaking up and making the statement that there is substance in what is happening. I have been following your travels since meeting you at Podcamp NYC last year.

Nice stuff man -- it's hard to stay focused in a live setting (I had a 1-minute shot at BBC news recently and totally lost it) and I'm glad you got the parting shot.

Obama's got a great analogy that he uses to give propers to the elders while also underlining the need for change: the "Joshua generation." Moses (MLK) was the great leader who brought his people to edge of the Promised Land, but it was for Joshua to take the last steps. It's an incredibly beautiful way to balance that tension, to give credit while still pointing out the need to move forward. And I think it's a great way to acknowledge the Boomers without ceding them the permanent high ground.

In the past few decades, "liberal" was the new conservative. It's time we changed that.

Great job Baratunde! I was happy to see that you *respectfully* disagreed with Jesse Jackson. That goes a long way especially since there's a gap between the old and new guards. I'm still amazed as well - Iowa showed that this is real!

BTW, I was also disturbed that the 2nd hottest news story was Britney Spears.
