He hadn’t seen his wife in eight months. He was easy going, friendly and had a good head on his shoulders. But the most fun he’s had in the past three quarters of a year has been the occasional shower. And the most scared he’s been was having to tell an 18 year old to take off his gas mask to make sure the gas was gone.

Thanks and Regards

Re: My conversation with a returning US Marine

Don’t worry, she was in on the game. It’s not like I just looked in a Parisian yellow pages, found some femme worth stalking and booked a flight. This woman had invited me over… to Paris. You can’t say no to that. Anyway, when I was leaving that great city, she asked if I didn’t want to stay for the weekend at least. She was heading to the beaches in the Southern regions. I politely declined, explaining that I had to get back to Boston for my brand, spanking new job.

Thanks and Regards

Re: My conversation with a returning US Marine

great post baratunde. The worst threat is certainly roadside bombs. I completely agree with you. After you read this, it is much harder to complain about small things like airport delays.

Re: My conversation with a returning US Marine

Hi Baratunde,

You should post these questions to Barack Obama's administration.

1. Why are the Marines being innoculated by medications/viruses that were passed off as vaccination.

2. Why aren't the Marines briefed about Depleted Uranium that exists in many of the ammunition used in Iraq and Kuwait.

Re: My conversation with a returning US Marine

Damn, this is the kind of thing the public needs to hear about - like you we assume the worst threats are roadside bombs but this pales in camparison.

Re: My conversation with a returning US Marine

Good story. I see the young service men and women in the airport all the time in my travels. As a retired Marine I am always drawn to the Marines. I just want to tell them thank you. My eyes always sweat a little while talking to them. Marines do not cry, but our eyes are known to sweat on and them.

Politics aside, it makes me feel good to see such young people serving thier country.

Re: My conversation with a returning US Marine

?WAR IS HELL

I had to pull radio watch in the War Room last night, which is our conference room where the war gets planned, and somebody left a copy of an April edition of People magazine there. I read how Survivors Rob and Amber are in love, Kelly Osbourne is in rehab, Omarosa has a surprising past, and Reese Witherspoon and Hubby Ryan Phillipe bought a house in Los Angeles for 4.9 million.
And for a split second, I was actually glad I was in Iraq.?

 -CBFTW
